Caring citizens

Sometime we don’t need to have computers, credit cards or brand name clothes to be happy, sometime we just need our heart and our dedication.
Last Friday our 8 grades went to the Father rays foundation in Pattaya, some of us went to the day care center, some went to take care of the blinds and some went to the Children village. In my case I went to the children village, we have two choice of what we want to do for the kids at the village. The first choice was to paint the playground for the kids and the second choice was to farm and weed. I took the second choice of farming and weeding to help the children in the children village. These kids grow their own crops and when it time to harvest, they kept some for their meal and the rest to sell to the local market.
We weeded 1 row of crops and also harvest 2rows of morning glory, the challenging part was when we have to pull the crops out from underground. Each time we harvest any crops, we need to make sure that the root comes out with it and is not stuck underground or else we have to find the roots and pull it out again before planting in another. Overall, I learned that we don’t need to be rich to make people happy, you just need to put some heart and care into what you do to help others.

Boston Tea Party

In our social study class on Wednesday, we did a seminar on the Boston Tea Party. We discussed about how the colonists boycott the British tea. At the end of the seminar we were asked about our opinion on the colonist, if they were patriots or terrorists. In my opinion, I believe that the colonists that disguised themselves as Indians in order to throw the British’s tea overboard were not terrorism. They were just expressing their feeling that they doesn’t need the British help, they just want their liberty back and their voice can be heard. The colonists were unhappy about the stamp act and the laws that said that they have to pay taxes on almost everything they buy. If we would connect this event to the current event one example would be on the event between the red shirts and the yellow shirts. The red shirt start the protest because of the fact that they want their voice to be heard and they feel unsupported where as the yellow shirt supported the law and prime minister himself. These two difference perspective then lead to a conflict between the two group just like a conflict between the colonists and the British parliament .
